On Saturday, Carol was due to have a haircut in Ranfurly (49 Km away) so the plan was that I’d head off earlier on the road bike and meet her and the boys there and Carol would ride home. At some stage while getting her hair cut, Carol asked Fynn (our 7yr old) if Dad should be here yet. His response was “Yes, he should be here by now but he’s probably stopped off to have a pie!”.  Thngs like that really make you wonder about the impressions you leave with your children

Suffice to say I did make it to Ranfurly and then Carol rode back home…. and she put in a faster time.

We’ve just setup a cycling group in our local community. Initially it was called the Ida Valley Cycling group but we’ve injected a bit of fun into things and renamed it “Riders of Rohan” since scenes from Rohan in “The Lord of the Rings” were shot here.
