If you’re short on time and can’t ride the whole trail with us then try a day trip – fun for the whole family! There are options for all budgets and requirements because we’re so close to the spectacular Poolburn Gorge.

Omakau to the Poolburn Viaduct return

Ride a round trip to the tunnels and viaduct. Take a tiki-tour through the gold mining town of Ophir when you return.

Distance: 26 km
Time: allow 3 – 4 hours.

Price: $40 / bike or $30 / kids bike
Auripo to Omakau

We transport you from Omakau through to Auripo where you set off towards the Poolburn Gorge with its viaduct and tunnels and then on to Lauder and Omakau. Take a side trip through the gold mining town of Ophir

Distance: 13 km
Time: allow 1 – 2 hours.

Oturehua to Omakau

We transport you from Omakau through to Oturehua where you can explore the Golden Progress Mine site, Gilchrists Store and Historic Hayes Engineering (by arrangement). Then set off towards the Poolburn Gorge with its viaduct and tunnels and on to Omakau. Cap it off with a tiki-tour through the gold mining town of Ophir when you return.

Time: allow 4-6 hours.

Auripo to Chatto Creek

We transport you from Omakau through to Auripo where you set off towards the Poolburn Gorge with its viaduct and tunnels and on to Lauder and Omakau. Take a side trip through the gold mining town of Ophir and then whiz down the Tiger Hill incline to the Chatto Creek Tavern where we’ll pick you up and transport you back to Omakau.

Distance: 29.5 km
Time: allow 5-6 hours.

Oturehua to Chatto Creek

Choose from our line-up of comfort or sport mountain bikes. All adult bikes come with helmet, pannier bags, light, tool kit and spare tube. Kids bikes don’t come with pannier bags.
