Wander the restored heritage precinct on the lakefront, a short stroll along Lake Dunstan in the heart of Cromwell. The buildings were relocated and rebuilt after the original main street was flooded when the lake went in, and today they house a mix of art galleries, craft shops and cafes, free to wander through at your own pace.
From Labour Weekend through to early March, Sunday mornings bring the Central Otago Farmers & Craft Market to the precinct as well.
For a drink to finish the afternoon, Penny Black sits on the waterfront within the precinct, the same spot Cromwell Winery Cruises drops guests who want to keep the day going.
