Are there shuttle services for the Otago Central Rail Trail and how do they work?

Yes. We provide daily shuttle services during the riding season.

Trail End Shuttles Riders commonly arrange shuttles to or from the start and end of the trail. For example, you can park your car in Clyde, ride to Middlemarch, and we will shuttle you back to Clyde at the end of your ride.

Airport Shuttles If you are flying into the region, we can collect you from Queenstown Airport or Dunedin Airport and transport you to the trail.

Shuttle Schedule Our shuttle service runs from Clyde to Middlemarch in the morning and returns from Middlemarch to Clyde in the afternoon. Most other shuttle providers operate on the same schedule.

Daily Luggage Transport We recommend using our daily luggage transport service so you are not carrying heavy bags on your bike. Our bag transporter collects luggage from your accommodation each morning and delivers it to your next accommodation.

The weight limit is 15 kilograms per bag for daily transport. Heavier items up to 23 kilograms can be transported from one end of the trail to the other, where they will be waiting when you arrive.

Storage We offer free storage at our depots in Clyde, Omakau, and Middlemarch when you leave items with us.

Booking We recommend you book shuttle services well in advance to coordinate timing and ensure availability. We offer a free itinerary planning service that takes care of all shuttle and logistics coordination for you.
