The trail is open year-round. The most popular time to ride is from September to May, which covers spring, summer, and autumn in New Zealand.
Spring (September to November) Spring offers mild weather, blooming wildflowers, and newborn lambs in the fields.
Summer (December to February) Summer provides long daylight hours and generally stable weather. Afternoon temperatures can be very hot, so riders should be prepared for heat.
Autumn (March to May) Autumn brings crisp, cool mornings and warm days. The landscape features golden foliage during this season.
Winter (June to August) Winter cycling is possible for experienced riders who are comfortable in cold conditions. The trail is very quiet during winter. Riders should expect cold temperatures, frost, occasional snow, and shorter daylight hours.
We do not offer end-to-end trail packages during winter. We do offer day trip experiences through the Poolburn Gorge during winter months.
