Where is the Clyde Under Pass on the Otago Rail Trail?

You’ll find the Clyde Under Pass here on Google Maps. Unfortunately, the finger board signs that direct you from the Clyde Township to the Rail Trail are easy to miss. It’s quite scary watching cyclists considering cross State Highway 8 on the road.

To make this easier for everyone we’ve created this simply YouTube short that shows you were to go if you’re nearing the stop sign at the highway.

The lane leading to the underpass is called “Daphne Hull Lane” in recognition of Daphne’s work over many years as chair and a member of the Otago Central Rail Trail Trust. The trust play an incredibly important role in the upkeep and promotion of the trail.

Bruce Potter was the artist who painted the massive mural. He’s a very hardy soul working away inside a chilly tunnel and we wonder sometimes if it was hard getting the paint to stick to the cold concrete.
