Luggage Transport Policy

If we’re transporting luggage along the trail for you, it’s important that you understand the following policy.

Bag weights

  • Bags for daily transfers between accommodations must weigh 15kg or less per item.
  • Bags will be weighed and tagged when you check in with us.
  • Your itinerary states how many bags you’ve arranged to bring.
    • For example, if your booking includes 4 bags, each must be 15kg or less — we cannot work on a combined weight basis.
  • This limit protects the health and safety of our drivers, who carry bags manually over gravel surfaces and into vehicles without the aid of conveyors or luggage carts.

Extra luggage options

If you are traveling as part of a wider journey and have additional luggage, we offer the following solutions:

  1. Return to starting depot:
    • If you’re cycling from Clyde to Middlemarch and returning to Clyde at the end of your journey, we can store your extra luggage at your starting depot at no cost.
  2. Luggage waiting at your finish depot:
    • If you need luggage transported to your finishing depot, we can transfer items up to 23kg for a fee per item.
    • Your bags will be waiting for you when you arrive.
    • Heavier bags can be moved between depots because they don’t need to be carried far and can be lifted by two people.
  3. Extra bags on the day:
    • If you pack extra bags at the last minute, that’s fine — we can sort this at check-in and collect payment at that time.
  4. Arriving with fewer bags:
    • If you arrive with fewer bags than planned, we cannot refund unused luggage allowance because those spaces have already been reserved as part of our logistics process.

If your bags are overweight

  • Returning to starting depot:
    • Extra luggage can be stored at no charge at your starting point.
  • Carried each day on the trail:
    • You can often redistribute items into other bags to meet weight limits.
    • If that isn’t possible:
      • We offer jute travel bags for a small fee to hold the excess.
      • You can then choose to:
        • Have the bag travel with you each day for a daily fee per shift, or
        • Send it directly to the end of the trail for a one-time fee, where it will be stored until you arrive.

By following these guidelines, we can keep luggage transfers smooth, efficient, and safe for both our team and your group.
